... in which the Fool lounges somewhere
I really hate the fact that I'm trying to look for answers to things that I should already know by now. I mean, I shouldn't be having too much trouble with Instrumentation questions, because they should be intuitive to me by now (what kind of engineer would I be if I didn't know how to use instruments?). Well, at least I'm done with my homework for today. It took me a few minutes to try to find out an answer to "special wheatstone bridges" yadda yadda. In the end, I decided to wing it. I'll just check my answers on Friday or something.
In all honesty though, I didn't have too much trouble answering the other instrumentation problems. I mean they're all pretty basic to me, you should connect ammeters in series, voltmeters in parallel, etc. These things are very easy. What really irritated me were those silly wheatstone questions. But anyway, I'm done now, bye for that.
Thanks to Aaron, I now have the latest version of DotA Allstars to play with at home. Obvoiusly, I miss the days when we used to play all day long in CTC 208 with all the connected laptops and desktops and what not (it also resulted in a lot of classes cut, a lot of cramming for exams, a lot of screaming, shouting, and a number of times when we almost got thrown out of the room). We had a lot of fun in those days with all the people playing together. These days, well, I can't play unless I go out of my way to HobbyStop or to go look for the Canon people (maybe next time, I have other priorities). So despite the fact that I suck in that game (and get trashed a lot for it), I kind of miss the trash talking and the feel of having a lot of your friends screaming at you while you all enjoy a nice competitive game of DotA.
It doesn't matter, I guess. What I do intend to do is bring one of those Starter Packs for VS and teach a few of my friends to play it. Just once maybe, just to let them see what I'm preoccupying myself with. If they want to make it into their hobby too, well they're welcome to it (more playmates! Whee!!!), if not, well there's no harm in showing them. At least they got to see some pretty pictures.
I miss the heroes from that game. DotA is a custom game of Warcraft III wherein you control only one hero and try to destroy the opponents base. Along the way, you kill the other team's heroes and get money to buy items that make your hero stronger to destroy their base. Sounds easy right?
Yes, and no. Yes the game is easy to understand, yes the objectives are clear, yes its easy to understand how to control the game. What is difficult is the fact that other players are human controlled. That means there is no pre-programmed skill level, they think tactically, they make a huge effort to stymie your efforts, and above all, they understand the meaning of team (or lack of it). There are many things that you have to take into consideration when you're fighting against real live people. And that is one of the reasons why DotA is such an enjoyable game.
If you check on the records of the other people on my links, you'll see some pretty violent reactions on the results of our wanton playing of that game during our last year of studying. But it was a great time. We even had an actual tournament for our organization in the final months of the school year, with our batch getting the shoo-in for the championship (the opposing lower batch team couldn't find the time to settle things with ours, and so well, forfeit the match). Unfortunately, I have no pictures that would show how fun the game was, or the amount of fun that we had during the tournament (or rather, they had, I had other engagements that day). But I would recommend that you guys do download the game and try it out for yourself. I'll provide the link below (mainly because I forgot how to put links).

I still have places to go today, so I'll keep my post short.
