... in which the Fool surfs through gamefaqs for games
I was glad that today's review session ended early. I had thought that the complication of navigational aids in electronics engineering was in the whacked-out formulas that we'd have to remember as we think of which navigational device was being used at the time, etc...
It turns out that the reason it's difficult is because of all the ridiculous names that you'd have to remember. Not to mention that there is no single published source that explains all known navigational tool and technique. So most instructors simply have to search for info on the most popular aids at the time, compile that data, then teach it to a group of students who probably have not heard of them as well.
I'm just glad that instructors figured out that if it wasn't taught in college, it probably isn't that important that you have to memorize the formulae as well. Except for RADAR I suppose, since almost everyone uses it.
It sucks that I have to attend makeup class again tomorrow, for Mechanics. Ugh... I've always sucked in that subject.
Today's lecture ended early though, which enabled me to have lunch with someone special...
Anyway, I've been looking through the boards of GameFAQs for anything interesting at all (since I'm almost oblivious to any new games that are in development or being released lately) and I happened to see the latest in the Soul Calibur series, Soul Calibur III.
For people who have no idea what Soul Calibur is, its a fighting game made by Namco involving people who are on various personal quests that all happen to include this legendary evil blade called the Soul Edge. There have been a total of 3 games that have been published previously, each tackling the story of both Soul Edge and the people who have been looking for them. For more information, click here.
I've been expecting news for the game ever since tekken 5 came out this year, and lo and behold, I was right, it was already in development, and nearly hot on the heels of tekken 5 as well.
What I didn't expect are all these topics about the capability of the PS2 to handle the game, how the PS2 could not have handled the graphics that should come with this game, how the PS2 might potentially have been the wrong choice for the game (its a PS2 exclusive game) etc... I say thee, nuts to all that. I can understand that owners of other consoles might have probably been gypped. But think about it this way, the producers probably have a very good reason why they wanted to develop it on the PS2 (say maybe it sold more on that unit than on another unit) and probably know the limitations of their decision and are taking care of them even as you argue like spoiled little kids. So there.
Personally, despite being very much raised on RPG's and strategy games as a kid, I found that I always tend to favor fighting games for no particular reason. I just like to watch people play fighting games (I also like to play them), like to know what's the update on the next fighting game that's coming out, when the next game is out, who will be in it, what will be new, etc. I just don't know why, maybe its my impatient nature coming out, but I'm always interested in what's next, even if the game sucks majorly (like say, Streetfighter III, uh... 3rd Impact?).
So just imagine how glad I am when I found out that this game is coming out before the end of the year (and if I'm lucky, it'll be out at almost the same time the JLA expansion comes out). That's like an early christmas for me...
Anyway, I've been reading through some of the comments people left behind. And a few things to address: Yes Mike, I'm back to my long-winded narratives. And yes, I think they are a little too long. But I don't care!!!! Oh, and with regards to retaining information... I think I learned more than you did. Hah!
I'd like to direct your attentions for a moment to some friends records:
Mike
Ryan
Keep in mind, these people are... acquired tastes, they might be more offensive than you'd be prepared for. Go Ahead, take a look. I'll be waiting here....
Back already? Got bored? Well, I won't blame you.
Unfortunately, that's all for today. I gotta go.
