You represent... naivete.
You represent... naivete.
So innocent and trusting... you can be very shy at
times, but it's only because you're not sure
how to act. You give off that "I need to
be protected vibe." Remember that not all
people are good. Being too trusting will get
you easily hurt.

What feeling do you represent?

... in which the fool installed Ragnarok Online at home

After refusing to play Ragnarok Online for several months, I finally gave in and tried out the game at home.

Yuso helped me out a little on character creation -- I wanted to try out a mage -- and maxed out the most important abilities for him. Unfortunately, that meant having to endure 10 levels of hell as a weakling novice who's weaker than a badger, but smart as hell.

Eventually, the mage would be able to deal far, far more damage to enemies than other classes, but for the meantime, I still have to put up with that weakling of a novice...

Still can't decide which elementals I'd like to invest in -- ice, fire, or lightning. I'm reminded of the sorceress in Diablo 2, where I had to concentrate on one or two elementals for maximum efficiency. I'll guess I'll cross the bridge when I get there. My magic is instinctive -- I'll just know what I need to do.

The other classes in Ragnarok Online remind me of the other classes in Diablo. You have the Archer, who obviously uses bows and arrows, similar to the bow-using amazon. Then there's the Assassin, like the hard-hitting martial artist assassin. There's the Knight, which reminds me a lot of the Paladin...

In fact, the game looks to me like a cross between Diablo 2 and Final Fantasy Tactics -- except that you can't mix classes/jobs... yet. The Priest is a lot like the white mage, heavily supportive, and lightly offensive. The Blacksmith, well, its just a bit new... you now have a class who focuses on the market instead of combat.

I'd love for them to add more classes to the game. Hopefully, when they update the game in August, they'd incorporate the newer secondary classes in the game. Unfortunately come August, people would have to pay for their accounts in addition to their internet connections. I'm still trying to budget my finances, especially since I have to prepare for something for my birthday.

I wonder if the game could handle tertiary classes -- more powerful knights/crusaders, wizards/sages, priests/monks, hunters/bards/dancers, blacksmiths/alchemists, assassins/rogues... there's still plenty of space for improvement for this game. I'd just love to see a blackguard or a barbarian in this game, and see how they handle it...

And put some story in the game, dammit! I can't see the purpose of making a character if all you're going to do with it is kill monsters! At least give some motivation to the game -- it is called Ragnarok for a reason, isn't it...?

... in which the fool is amazed

Surprisingly, F-323 suddenly became an empty place. Despite the fact that most of my classmates instinctively go to this room during breaks, right now it seems like they've forgotten that fact. Curious... Could this possibly be due to an announcement made by our microprocessing lab instructor?

We were reminded not to enter the microprocessor lab when another class is using it. Obviously, doing so is improper and would be an insult to the laboratory supervisor who also happens to be senior faculty member in the ECCE department and probably next in line to be chair. Not to mention that it would leave a bad impression on him when he becomes our professor in any of the next courses that we might take in the future. The other lab is scheduled for 230-430 MWF. Perhaps my other classmates didn't know the schedule, or maybe they just wanted to stay out of trouble. Maybe they had something better to do this afternoon... I dunno. But aside from myself, there is absolutely no one else in this room right now.

Managed to collect the photocopying fees this afternoon. I asked Hubert, the other beadle if I could pay my fee next week instead and he agreed. That would leave me with some more money for food this week, not counting my transportation fare.

It would appear that Charles actually put me on his list of people's blogs that he actually knows... Thanks Charles. :)

And with this, that would make a total of seven posts on this journal. Which means that the next time I write something down, the earliest post in the journal would be pushed away to make space for the new one...

... in which the fool loses his money

And now, for the latest in the ongoing stupidity of the Fool...

Had lunch at 'Thai in a Box' with Elbert, Lassie, Navarro (although Gio didn't eat because he was still full). Despite my careful calculation on how much I would approximately spend for lunch today, my effort would be in vain. That's because I realized too late that I lost my alloted lunch money! Not just today's lunch money, but my entire allowance for the week! Argh!!!! And that was just over 14 hours since I got it from my mom...

Thankfully, Gio was around and I managed to borrow some money from him... Er, actually, I tried to borrow from him, until he heard that my bill was around 200 php and he backed out. I had to find a way to pay today's bill, though, so I tried to borrow from both Elbert and Lassie too. Unfortunately, the earliest I can pay anyone would be next week. In the end, it was Lassie who would spring for today's expenses (with a little bit more extra for the rest of the week) giving me 500 php.

With the loss of my money, so goes my hopes of being able to watch Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle. Or having good meals for both lunch and dinner this week. Or for any expenditures at all this week. I'll have to use the money lent to me wisely, otherwise, I'd have more debts to pay than allowable expenses next week. So far, I'm planning on eating just a small meal every lunch time, or if worse comes to worse, completely skip meals whenever I'm in school (which means for the rest of the week). My plan to try out Ragnarok Online this week would also have to be postponed again. Photocopying expenses would also have to be kept to a minimum (which reminds me of my photocopying debt to the beadle of the other class, damn, have to pay for that soon too). Even physical activities have to be lessened, to avoid having a huge appetite. Ugh.

Looking at the bright side, that would mean that I've lost three things already -- my titanium-framed glasses given by my brother, my nokia 3310, and now my allowance for the week (er, actually four things, including a Parker pen with my name engraved on it as a gift by Dulce). I would like to include my wallet too, but that particular item returned to me 2 weeks later (obviously with the contents gone) so I can't consider it "lost"... I wonder what it is with me and my pockets...

Grrr... My hands still feel like they want to throttle someone for my stupidity... Grr... FROST SMASH!!!

Things to remember:
1) Upon receiving money, store them in a safe place -- preferably in the wallet.
2) As much as possible, keep the wallet in a safe place -- preferably in the bag. (The pockets are safe too, technically, so long as it doesn't fall off)
3) Keep close watch of valuables at all times -- keep the bag close, and the mobile phone securely fastened in the pocket.
4) Stress on rule number one -- and rule number two.
5) Always remember, when shit hits the fan, when things get out of hand -- just keep calm, and keep smiling (like a madman).
6) Forget rule number five -- what do you mean keep calm??? Start searching like a man possessed!!!!
7) But when all seems lost, might as well accept it -- congratulations to the finder of the missing item.

So there. People have been complaining about the lack of material in the journal. Apparently, The Powers That Be have seen fit to give me something to write about today -- I hope you're happy, dammit.

Arrrggghhh.... Frost SMASH!!!

... in which the fool is motivated to write a bit

Just received the billing statement for my mobile number. Apparently, I've exceeded the monthly allowance by over 300 pesos mostly because of GPRS connections. So far, I'm trying to calculate how Globe actually calculates the costs, but I'm getting frustrated. I'll have to find a way to cut costs for this month, or my dad'll kill me...

Schoolwork is piling up uncharacteristically this early in the semester. Well, not exactly typical lecture assignments or research projects, but rather LABwork. I was never too fond of electronics lab work, because I never understood how to work the oscilloscope -- the fancy equipment used to observe and record waveforms as it passes through a circuit. For some strange reason, even after two years, I still can't figure out what to record on the oscilloscope (of course, if my professors ever knew this, they'd be surprised) without someone to guide me. I'll have to do something about that, or else there's nothing I can do when I finally go to work...

Interestingly, despite all the schoolwork that I have to attend to, I can still find the time to read the books that I've borrowed from Charles. I guess that's what people mean by time management (although for my case, I think it has more to do with enthusiasm). Now that I'm done with the clan novels, I think its time to concentrate on schoolwork (or updating this journal, or maybe I can read the three dune prequel novels...).

I'm getting annoyed by my internet connection today. It keeps slowing down, despite the fact that I'm only alternating between three windows. I can't even get my yahoo account to function properly because of the slow down I'm experiencing...

That's it for the meantime, I can hear the PS2 calling to me. Schoolwork can wait, the PS2 can't (besides, I don't hear homeworks calling to me, and even if they did, I don't answer them on Sundays... hehehe...)
